Mahanakorn University of Technology and Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Technology International Exchanges and Cooperation Online Conference

On the 29th April 2022, our university and Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Technology held an online meeting about international exchanges and cooperation between Thailand and China. Assistant President Howard Wu, Director of the Automotive project Dr. Nirut Lairaksa, Director of the International Office (China) Wang Shizhao, Deputy Director of the Relevant Departments Zhang Ming, Member of the Party Committee of Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Technology Yuan Xiaobin, Deputy Dean of the School of Automotive Wu Yunxi, Deputy Director of the School of Automotive Industry Dean Lai Jiansheng, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office Li Guangrong and other chief officers of relevant departments attended the online meeting that took place in Bangkok, Thailand, in Guangzhou and in Zhuhai China.

The speakers and attendees from both Thai and Chinese universities successively introduced the situations of each university in the meeting.
Professor Yuan Xiaobin discussed the history, faculty, professional construction, and international cooperation in running schools of Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Technology. Assistant Principal Wu Yuhao presented the history of Mahanakorn University of Technology, faculty strength, advantageous disciplines, and international cooperation in running schools. He also presented the university’s achievements, training conditions and international influence through the university’s promotional video.

Afterwards, the Vice President of the Chinese Automobile College Wu Yunxi, introduced to our school the professional setting, school-enterprise cooperation, foreign aid training and other college constructions of the Automobile College of the Guangzhou Academy of Sciences. The Head Officer of the Automobile Faculty Dr. Nirut Lairaksa, introduced the automobile of Mahanakorn University of Technology and the professional development building overview to Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Technology. The two organizations conducted preliminary discussions on professional cooperation related to new energy-operated vehicles.

During the meeting, both organizations had an in-depth discussions and exchanges on the two-way training of teachers, cooperative education projects, the improvement of academic qualifications of teachers and staff, the joint construction of overseas teaching and training bases, and the service of “Go Global” Chinese-funded enterprises.
Both organizations are looking forward to signing a framework agreement in the near future, steadily advancing specific exchanges and cooperation projects, and deeply implementing the “Belt and Road initiative”.

Mahanakorn University’s search for Thailand’s representative to compete in the RMRC (Rapidly Manufactured Robot Challenge) League of the World-Class Robotics Competition, RoboCup 2022. The first ever RMRC Thailand Robotics Championship, applicants compete under the mission: Robotics for Disaster Relief and Rescue, where these robots attempt to explore and assist disaster victims.

Mahanakorn University of Technology (MUT) invites you to participate in the RMRC RoboCup (Rapidly Manufactured Robot Challenge) Thailand championship, the first time ever in Thailand. Win prizes pool over 30,000 baht and 5,000 baht sponsorship per team. The RMRC is known as the Robo-Cup-Junior Rescue competition for ages 13-19 and is one of the longest standing global RoboCup sub-competitions where the robot’s missions are to explore and rescue disaster victims. The robots go through different series of landscapes and are to have the ability to pick up materials as well as the ability to detect through image processing or any other methods.

Competition participants will be trained in intense workshops to creatively build their robots. The young innovator winner will be selected to represent Thailand for the upcoming RMRC RoboCup global event where Thailand will be hosting its first ever event in this particular series. The event is hosted in a collaboration between The RoboCup, the Engineering Society of Thailand and Mahanakorn University of Technology.

Qualifications of applicants

  1. Age: 13 – 19 years old
  2. Team of 2 – 6 people with an additional 1 – 2 supervisor

Support & Rewards

  1. 5,000.- baht sponsorships for participating teams (five thousand baht only) for 10 teams.
    (Only the top 10 teams who have also participated in 2 workshops. Under any circumstances that these teams does not participate in the finals, all received funds shall be refunded to the organizers)
  2. The winning team in which its robot has successfully performed all assigned tasks shall receive the prize money and represent Thailand in the RMRC RoboCup (Rapidly Manufactured Robot Challenge).
Rewards
  • The winning prize is 12,000 baht (twelve thousand baht) in cash as well as a trophy and a certificate
  • 2nd place prize is 8,000 baht (eight thousand baht) in cash as well as a trophy and a certificate
  • 3rd place consists of 2 prizes of 5,000 baht (five thousand baht only) in cash with a trophy and a certificate for each team
  • Note: All participating teams in the project shall receive a certificate. The decision made by the committee is final.
