Connecting Education Directly with Industry
Semiconductor education becomes much more valuable when students can see how what they learn connects with the companies building the technology.
On 23 December 2025, MAHANAKORN signed a memorandum of understanding with STARS Microelectronics (Thailand) as one of the company’s key partners during the STARS Microelectronics 30th Anniversary: Integrated Excellence for a Sustainable Future event.
The collaboration brings education, research and industry together through the STARS Co-Lab Engineering Tomorrow initiative, with a shared focus on developing people, research and innovation for Thailand’s semiconductor and advanced-electronics sectors.
Building Talent Around Real Industry Needs
A growing semiconductor industry needs more than factories and equipment.
It needs engineers who understand electronics.
Researchers who can develop new technologies.
Production specialists who can improve complex processes.
And graduates who understand how their technical knowledge fits into a real industrial environment.
That is why collaboration between universities and technology companies matters.
By working directly with industry, academic institutions can better understand the skills and capabilities that future engineers will need while creating opportunities for research and knowledge exchange that respond to real technological challenges.
The partnership with STARS Microelectronics is designed around exactly that connection: bringing education, industry and research closer together.
A Wider Semiconductor Collaboration
MAHANAKORN is not working alone.
The agreement brought together five partner organisations:
- MAHANAKORN
- King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
- King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok
- King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi
- National Science and Technology Development Agency
Together with STARS Microelectronics, the group forms part of a broader effort to strengthen semiconductor and advanced-electronics capability in Thailand.
This kind of network matters because modern semiconductor development crosses many areas of expertise.
Electronics engineers may work on circuits and hardware.
Computer engineers may develop embedded or intelligent systems.
Industrial engineers may improve manufacturing processes.
Researchers may explore new materials, devices or applications.
Building a stronger technology sector means developing all of those capabilities together.
From University Knowledge to Technology Industry
For students, industry collaboration helps answer an important question:
Where can what I am learning actually take me?
Semiconductors sit behind technologies ranging from AI and smartphones to electric vehicles, robotics, communications and industrial automation.
That means the industry needs people with different kinds of technical expertise working across design, testing, manufacturing, systems integration and research.
MAHANAKORN’s collaboration with STARS Microelectronics adds another industry connection to the university’s broader work in semiconductor education and workforce development.
The goal is not simply to teach students about a growing industry.
It is to help build the people capable of becoming part of it.
