From Academic Connection to Global Research Network

Some international partnerships begin with a signing ceremony.

This one began much earlier.

MAHANAKORN’s relationship with Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) has developed over years through academic exchange, doctoral research and personal collaboration between researchers. That connection is now expanding into a formal partnership focused on advanced technologies including biosensors, bioelectronics and lab-on-a-chip systems.

The collaboration also strengthens the connection between TU Delft, Imperial College London and MAHANAKORN through the SABER Lab — Semiconductor AI & BioSensor Electronics Research Laboratory.

Research That Connects Disciplines

The areas behind this collaboration sit where several technologies meet.

Biosensors combine electronics with biological information. Bioelectronics connects engineering with healthcare and human systems. Lab-on-a-chip technology brings complex laboratory processes onto compact electronic platforms.

Developing these technologies can require knowledge across:

That makes this collaboration more than a connection between universities. It creates a research environment where different areas of engineering can work together around real-world problems.

A Relationship Built Over Time

The connection with TU Delft also has a long academic history.

Professor Wouter Serdijn of TU Delft previously supervised doctoral research by MAHANAKORN faculty members. Their careers later extended into the wider European technology ecosystem, including research at imec and academic work in the Netherlands.

That history matters because international collaboration is most valuable when it develops beyond institutional names.

It becomes a network of researchers, laboratories and people who can continue creating opportunities across universities and countries.

What Does This Mean for Students?

The goal of the partnership includes creating opportunities for students and faculty to work alongside international researchers, participate in collaborative research projects, exchange knowledge and become part of a wider global research network.

For students interested in engineering and emerging technology, that provides a clearer picture of where their studies can lead.

A classroom can be the starting point.

Research can connect that knowledge to technologies being developed around the world.
